first i must say , it’s sad that this song more famous than it is . i discovered it myself last summer , and fell in love with it . so i decided to learn it . first the tab , and then i wanted to play it with chords , just try to get the sound of it . i’m not sure if it’s 100 correct , but it sounds ok in my ears . what you need : A guitar in standard tuning A capo placed on the 2nd fret strumming pattern : i use D - D - u - u - D if you listen to the song he quite often builds up from A Em to A G chord . so if you want to add that part , well he does is the following on your lowest E - string . E : | 0 - 2 - 3 and then play the G - chord . feel free to correct me , send me A pm or leave A msg in the comments section and i’ll try to fix the wrong part ( s ) . i know the chordsplacements aren’t 100 accurate , but i’ve done it by ear from the way i remember the song , so bare with me . ; ) oh , and fyi , i got the lyrics from A random site , and from what i’ve checked , he uses different lyrics on almost every recording i’ve heard . not much i can do Am i afraid : ) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - intro : G - B7 - Em - C - G - B7 - Em G B7 Em C well i used to walk along the opposite side of the road G B7 Em and made others get out of my way G B7 Em C i used to think that i could sit and wait for the times G B7 Em but i know i should meet them halfway Em C G B7 i’m halfway home and i’m on my own Em C G B7 i’m halfway there and i don’t care , i don’t mind Em C G B7 i plan to leave here after supper time , that’s when traffic is light , all i Em C G B7 Em need is A sign and i’ll be alright . i’ll be fine G B7 Em C well i used to think that i could just sleep and then i would dream G B7 Em and everything it would just come to me G B7 Em C until i woke one day without anything to eat G B7 Em lying on the opposite side of the street Em C G B7 i’m halfway home and i’m still out on my own Em C G B7 i’m halfway there and i don’t care , i don’t mind Em C G because it ain’t my time not to stay or say B7 Em C G well i can’t say , but you can bet that i will play my heart out B7 i’ll won’t lay .
