B some lyrics i have seen have ’lin ti pau’ . all sources i have , ( original english sheet music , and the booklet in the remastered cd ) both say ’lin tai yu’ , and listening carefully to both the original , and live version , with headphones on , it clearly sounds to be ’yu’ . the name is from A classic chinese character from the novel , ’dream of the red chamber’ . tai yu is sometimes transcribed as tai - yu , or daiyu . i went with peter gabriels spelling .
